Round 7: White vs. Yellow, 0:2

December 02, 2011 - St. Crispen's Day for Team White

Although team white (AKA “9 good feet team”) finished the game
completely decimated by injuries (4 players + ½@net), we managed to keep
the white magic show alive ending up with a 5:2 loss in this exciting
match. The Yellow team opened the game thanks to the team White “peg-leg
keeper” whose clumsy ball deflection attempt flicked the very good
corner kick straight to the far post where Jimmy “the yellow mamba”
quickly reacted, said “Thank you!”, followed it up by an excellent
header and placed it into the team white net. Yellow’s good passing game
brought the temperature to a boiling point with a 3:0 lead by the half
time.

Then Mike Rabs took the stage and said… “Me cago en la leche!... Qué
chingados es eso?! Let’s bid farewell to this game with dignity!!”… and
no-one will ever be able to explain how the turnaround occurred… the
game shifted to the yellow’s half... Mike R. was dribbling back and
forth through their defensive and middle section… and finally few passes
later, Steve scored the first goal - a huge motivator for the team
white.

The very next minute Jeff “the godfather of soccer in Toronto” Pape
stepped up with a fantastic Beckham style curved ball that found Gerard
at the top of the Yellow’s box… one of the most difficult headers I’ve
seen in years lobbed into the net past Shamus - ending in the top right
corner…. Definitely one of the top 5 goals this season – great work
Jeff/Gerard…

Unfortunately, the rest of the game was shadowed by team White's short
bench and few unfortunate tackles from the Yellow’s that made our bench
even shorter…

Mike Rabs ended up with a grapefruit sized knee and ankle (tackled by
“Evil Hans”)… and another tackle took Mauro out (the rumor has it that
banana sized swelling on his foot was alive and kicking later that
night) and also ended up on the bench before the game was over.
Yellow’s scored 2 more goals and FIFA representative called the day…
